Benni Krueger is a Wellington-based qualified Piano Tuner and Technician with over 20 years of professional experience, providing expert piano tuning, servicing, and repairs throughout the greater Wellington region.
Originally from Berlin, Germany — once home to more than 300 piano factories — Benni was immersed from a young age in the rich musical and technical traditions of the piano trade. He trained under his father, Joachim Krüger, a highly respected master piano technician whose five-decade career included work for internationally recognised artists such as Queen (Freddie Mercury), Burt Bacharach, and Helge Schneider. Growing up in the family workshop, Benni began tuning and repairing pianos as a teenager, developing a meticulous approach to craftsmanship and an exceptional ear for tonal precision.
After completing his apprenticeship in 2003, Benni became a member of the Berlin Piano Tuning Guild and established his first piano tuning business shortly thereafter. Since relocating to New Zealand in 2004, he has tuned and serviced thousands of upright and grand pianos for private clients, professional musicians, schools, recording studios, concert venues, and arts organisations.
Benni’s international experience includes specialist piano tuning work aboard luxury cruise ships and prestigious venues where reliability, precision, and consistency are essential. His work has included piano servicing for renowned operators and venues such as Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth QE2, Silversea Cruises, Holland America Line, Windstar Cruises, The World Residences at Sea, and the iconic Venice Simplon-Orient-Express.
Today, Benni is trusted by many of Wellington’s leading music and arts organisations, including the Wellington Jazz Festival, New Zealand School of Music, Massey University, and the Music and Audio Institute of New Zealand.
